Our Black Forest Germany tours take us beyond our core region along the river Danube into Bavaria.
Some 7,5 miles south-east of Regensburg visitors are puzzled by an unusual sight: high above the banks of the Danube a Greek temple dominates the charming Bavarian landscape. It was king Ludwig I. of Bavaria who built the Walhalla as a national monument modelled on the Parthenon temple in Athens. Having served in the Napoleonic Wars as a young man, Ludwig was an advocate of the German national movement of the 19th century. His Walhalla is a hall of fame for distinguished and famous Germans who have left their mark on German culture and history. Come with us and explore outstanding architecture as well as an excursion into the German Who is Who of several centuries.
We meet at the Walhalla car park. This Black Forest Germany tour takes about 1,5 hours and is available all year round.
